The Kathmandu to Lhasa tour starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Lhasa across the Himalayas by the way of the Araniko Highway. Watching the marvelous mountains on the way, you can visit the famous Potala and Norbulinkha palaces, and Barkhor market in Tibet. The enchanting Buddhist monasteries like Sakya, Shalu, Natang will give you a feel of spiritual cleansing. You will be guided around the remote villages untouched by the materialistic modern civilization. The best part of this trip is the visit to Everest Base Camp with a majestic north side view of Everest.

Kathmandu to Lhasa via Everest Base Camp-Overland Tour
Day 01 KATHMANDU TO LHASA
Driving from Kathmandu over the Kodari Highway, you will reach Zhangmu, the Tibetan border town. You will meet your guide on arrival at the check post. After immigration, you will be driven to Lhasa. You will be transferred to your hotel. You are advised to take rest and drink plenty of fluids and let your body used to Lhasa’s high altitude.
Day 02 SIGHTSEEING IN LHASA
The tour will start with a visit to Sera Monastery, a preserved monastery of white-washed walls and golden roofs. Next, you will tour to Norbulingka, the summer palace of Dalai Lama decorated beautifully with Tibetan carvings and paintings. A tour to Jokhang Temple will give you a glimpse of Tibetan culture. It is a sacred site of Tibetan Buddhism. Barkhor Market, which is the centre of Lhasa, will be quite different from other visits. The market is busy with stall hawkers and consumers. The tour for the day concludes back to your hotel.
Day 03 SIGHTSEEING IN LHASA
Exploring Lhasa continues after the breakfast. You will make a visit to the Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. The 17th century Potala Palace will give you an awesome view of the entire city. Around the ancient chambers of the palace, you will get to look at the tomb of eight Dalai Lamas. Dated to 14th century, Drepung Monastery is a home for hundreds of monks. However, history has it that the monastery used to shelter around 10,000 monks. After the days tour you are accompanied back to your hotel for rest.
Day 04 LHASA-DAY FOR ACCLIMATIZATION
You can spend the day as your wish. You can either go around Lhasa exploring the local lives, or revisiting a monastery, looking for a souvenir in the busy Barkhor Square, or simply relaxing the day in a cafe and watching around.
Day 05 DRIVE TO GYATSE
Driving past Khamba La pass along the Friendship Highway, you can pause to relish the magnificent view of Yamdrok-tso Lake and Nazin Kang Sa at 7252m. Crossing another pass Karo La and driving further, you will reach to Gyatse, a beautifully landscaped Tibetan village.
Day 06 SIGHTSEEING AND DRIVE TO SHIGATSE
Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum are major attractions of Gyantse. Gyantse Dzong is a 14th century historical fort that overlooks the entire Gyantse and the surrounding Nyang Chu Valley. Kumbum with a large gold-domed stupa houses several chapels and Tibetan Buddhist murals. A short drive from Gyantse will take you to Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibet. Tashilhunpo Monastery is the major attraction of Shigatse.
Day 07 SIGHTSEEING AND DRIVE TO SHEGAR
Along the Friendship Highway you will travel through small town of Lhatse and Gyamtso La pass. Traveling amidst the eye-catching landscape the route will open into plains. Many monasteries and camps of nomadic herders will be noticeable as you approach to Shegar.
Day 08 DRIVE TO RONGBUK
Crossing Pang La pass as you move forward from Shegar you can cherish yourself to the splendid view of snow-capped peaks from Makalu to Shishapangma. On reaching at Rongbuk, you can have a face to face experience of Mount Everest. You will stay overnight at a guest house.
Day 09 EXPLORE EVEREST BASE CAMP AND DRIVE TO TINGRE
The Everest Base Camp is a dry and barren place but the majestic view of the world’s highest peak compensates more for it. The north face of the peak is truly an inspiring place.
Day 10 DRIVE TO ZHAGMU
Driving past Tingri and crossing the Lalung pass and Shung La pass, you can savor the charismatic views of Shishapangma, Cho Oyu, Menlungtse and Gauri Shankar himal. As you descend from Tibetan plateau to Zhangmu on the Nepalese border, you will have traveled from barren plateau to lush vegetation of Zhagmu.
Day 11 DRIVE TO KATHMANDU
Across the Bhote Koshi River at Friendship Bridge, you will come to the immigration control in Kodari. You will meet your Nepalese attend who will drive you to Kathmandu. After a five hours drive, you will reach Kathmandu.
